What is something you’re incredibly proud of?

Besides being a mother, I am proud of helping with the expansion of the Art department at ERA. We have an increased interest in high school visual art courses and a lot of that starts from interest in art in our middle school courses.


What did you want to be when you were small?

I had a plan of being an artist by day and a drummer in a band by night. Unfortunately, my instrumental skills are lacking.


What is one thing you could not go a day without?

Probably coffee. I am definitely one of those millennial stereotypes that needs their coffee at the beginning of the day.


What's your favorite family tradition?

My favorite tradition is going to our cabin in Inger, MN every Memorial Day weekend. We have been going since I was two and it marks the beginning of summer for our family.


What teacher inspired you the most? How?

My art teacher and mentor, Lisa Johnson. I have known Lisa since I was a small child. She was the one who encouraged me to become a teacher and taught me the love of learning and art history. She showed her passion for art in her classes every day and it stuck with me.


When was the last time you were nervous?

The last time I was really nervous was probably the first day of school. I am always nervous and excited with the new school year. This year I was probably a little more nervous because my daughters started kindergarten.


What story do your family or friends tell about you?

The time that my dog jumped on the shed door and locked me in for a few hours. My siblings wouldn’t let me out until I told them where my camera was.


What do you miss most about being a kid?

The freedom from not worrying about the future.


What is one goal you’d like to accomplish during your lifetime?

I would like to get my doctorate in education.


Who is your hero?

My heroes would have to be my parents. They have and still provide so much for me and my family.
